My wife Paula will be having surgery this Monday. They will be putting in a defibulator. I ask for each of my friends to please interceed for us. The surgery will be at 7:30 am.
I still believe in the power of prayer.

Two of my favorites are gone....
Thursday morning I woke up and checked my email as I do every morning and recieved an email that Anthony Burger had passed away while on the Gaither's Homecoming Cruise. He was playing the piano for the trio of Bill & Gloria Gaither and Guy Penrod at the time. It couldn't imagine seeing a 44 year old man die right on stage. My prayers are with his family. Of course, the Homecoming videos, are what introduced me to classic southern gospel music. Yet, I first remember singing Anthony with the Kingsmen Quartet. He was a ball of excitement. He could play anything. He had the distinct pleasure of winning the favorite instrumentalist award for 10 years from the Singing News Fan Awards. Southern Gospel music will never be the same. Also Friday, Don Knotts passed away. He played Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show. The classic comedy from Andy, Barney, and Otis is legendary. I wish they made TV like this. He will definitely be missed.

Today is the day of deliverance!!!
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
If I have ever seen a day, that God's people needs real delieverance it is today. So many of God's people are in bondage to things in this life. Scripture teacches us that if the Son has made us free we are free. Yet, so many time we become bound and shackled by the cares of this life.
Remember Jesus said to yoke up with him, for his yoke is easy and burden is light.
In the above scripture the prophet declares that delieverance is in Mt. Zion. Mt. Zion always is a symbol of the church. It also says whosoever calls on the name of the Lord will be delievered. That is a statement of authoritity. If you will believe you will recieve delieverance. Jesus said in John 17, that if we ask in his name, we will recieve. and he will get the glory.
Whatever is holding you back, remember the words of Christ, that he came to preach delieverance to the captive. If things have you hostage, let Christ break you free. Delieverance is yours.

Anoint the Shield
Isa 21:5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
This is one of my favorite messages to preach. I thought I would post it on the blog.
What does it mean to anoint the sheild. Let me break it down.
Remember in Biblical times there was 2 types of sheilds. One was for hand to hand combat, which is also known as a buckler. The other was a large shield that a man was able to hide behind, to protect himself. Many times they would have a leather covering. It was very important to keep this leather anointed with oil. It would quench any fire darts and would not burn. Yet, if it was not anointed well it would crack and could burn.
So lets remember that the shield is symbolic of faith, anointing is symbolic of the Holy Ghost, and firey darts symbolic of the snares and traps of the Devil. So summing up briefly if we fail to let the Holy Ghost work hand and hand with our faith we will find ourselves unprotected. We must keep our guard so when trials come we are able to block and quench whatever fire is thrown at us.
There is a lot more that I could say about this scripture, yet I hope this gives you something to think about.
